Dr. DAC Prime & Nano

Dr. DAC Prime & Nano
DR DAC
We've already featured two audio interfaces for recording and DJs, why would we add a third to the same newsletter?  The Dr. DAC Prime goes beyond the "normal" features in audio interface and gives you everything you need to listen to music with pristine audio quality for around $500.

Dr. DAC prime works with up to 24bit/192kHz and is not only equipped with both an optical (via the included miniplug-toslink adapter) and coaxial S/PDIF input but also with a full USB audio interface (up to 24bit/96kHz) for bit-perfect audio transfer. Optionally the incoming signal can be upsampled to 192kHz, using a TI SRC4382 high end sample rate converter.

The actual analog output signal is generated by a TI PCM1796 DAC with 123dB(a) dynamic range, featuring a full differential output with 3 LME49860NA opamps (8 pin) which are conveniently placed on sockets. Thebuilt-in headphone amplifier provides 1/8" and 1/4" connectors. The line output volume can be adjusted or fixed to send out the maximum dynamic range.

But Dr. DAC prime is much more: it provides line inputs (AKM AK5386 ADC with 110dB) as well as optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs, allowing you to record your own signals with excellent audio quality.

So not only is the DR. DAC Prime a digital to analog converter (and analog to digital converter) it is also a USB audio interface and a headphone amplifier - all for around the price of any one of those devices!

Not sure it is worth around $500?  Check out the detailed specs on our website, and I'll think you will agree it is well worth the price for the highest quality audio.

Still don't want to spend that much?  No problem!  The Dr. DAC Nano is only $100 and still offers very high quality playback with 24 bit / 96 kHz precision.  It too is a headphone amp, audio interface and it also handles D/A conversion with very good quality hardware.
