iRig BlueBoard

iRig BlueBoardiRig BlueBoardThe iRig BlueBoard is the first wireless MIDI pedalboard controller for iPhone, iPad and Mac for only $99!
The iRig BlueBoard is the first wireless MIDI pedalboard for iOS and Mac that allows you to control your music apps and more from the floor.

Now control parameters of your MIDI-compatible apps like AmpliTube wirelessly from the floor. Switch between presets, change patches, turn effects on and off and control effects like volume wah pedals all from the stage floor without worrying about tripping over wires. Setup is as simple as turning the iRig BlueBoard on and telling it what you want to control.

iRig BlueBoard features four backlit soft-touch pads housed in a sturdy, stage-worthy chassis, two TRS expansion jacks for connecting additional MIDI controllers like expression pedals, and is powered by four standard AAA batteries.

The control messages sent from iRig BlueBoard to AmpliTube or other Core MIDI music apps can include bank up/down, MIDI continuous controllers, as well as parameter changes on apps such as IK's AmpliTube, VocaLive, SampleTank, and iGrand Piano, or any other Core MIDI compatible app like Apple GarageBand.

Because it communicates with the mobile device via Bluetooth, it leaves the 30-pin, Lightning and mini-jack connector on the mobile device free for connection with other IK accessories like iRig HD, iRig STOMP, iRig, iRig Mic, iRig MIC Cast, iRig MIDI, iRig KEYS or any other favorite accessory.

Guitar and bass players, singers and keyboard players will now be able to play and control their preferred iOS app on stage or in studio, with the same degree of performance control offered by traditional music hardware, and the freedom of not being tethered by cables. Plus iRig BlueBoard is small enough to fit in a laptop bag. iRig BlueBoard companion apps for other computer and mobile platforms will also be available in the near future.

Although IK doesn't mention this, the iRig BlueBoard makes a great pedal for turning pages too!  Although the BT-105 has been very popular for turning pages, the iRig BlueBoard is a great option to consider.  Unlike the BT-105, the iRig BlueBoard is sending MIDI data, so you need an app such as Scorecerer that responds to MIDI commands.  However, at a lower price and with 4 buttons instead of two pedals, the iRig BlueBoard is a good option to consider for turning pages.

Studiolive 312AI

Studiolive 312AI
StudioLive 312AIThe new StudioLive 312AI is essentially a really loud studio monitor!  Designed to deliver the volume required by a PA system but the sonic accuracy of a studio monitor, the StudioLive 312AI is an exciting new development in sound reinforcement for only $1399.95.

Studio monitors are designed to accurately reproduce music across a broad spectrum without signal loss or distortion but they can’t handle the SPL demands and other necessities of a live show. Conventional PA speakers can deliver plenty of volume, but except for very high-end systems, they can’t deliver the extremely clear, accurate sound one expects in a studio. As a result, a PA speaker that delivers studio-monitor quality for live shows has remained an unfulfilled fantasy - until now.

This fantasy has, at last, become reality thanks to a partnership between PreSonus and Fulcrum Acoustic’s legendary engineer David Gunness (formerly of EAW and Electro-Voice). Rather than take the usual brute-force approach to PA-speaker design, the team designed a coaxial loudspeaker that would employ Fulcrum’s unique DSP-based approach.

The result is PreSonus StudioLive AI series Active Integration Loudspeakers, the first affordable, active PA speaker systems that deliver studio-monitor accuracy on stage with exceptionally clear, coherent sound while supplying the features and protection systems required to mix a live show that sounds great in a wide variety of venues, and with virtually any musical genre. These features include wireless and wired control of all setup, tuning, and monitoring functions, using an iPad or laptop.

A compact, powered, full-range, 3-way loudspeaker, StudioLive 312AI relies on a 12-inch ferrite woofer for low frequencies and a custom-designed, 8-inch coaxial speaker with a 1.75-inch titanium compression driver to reproduce the mid and high frequencies. These transducers are driven by a hefty 2,000W RMS of triamplified, Class D power.

Remotely control Mixcraft from your SmartPhone!

Mixcraft is an easy to use recording program often called "GarageBand for Windows".  It is an incredible value, and I personally feel that it goes far beyond what GarageBand is capable of.  It sounds great, has lots of loops, effects and instruments and even supports notation and video.

To make Mixcraft even easier to use when recording, Acoustica recently released an app that allows you to remotely control Mixcraft from your iOS or Android device.  This means you can easily start and stop recording without having to go back to your computer!

EZ Mix 2 and EZ Drummer on sale!

Until the end of May, you can pick up EZ Mix 2 for $95 and EZ Drummer for $68.

EZ Drummer is a multi-microphone drum sampler designed for musicians and producers in need of a compact, affordable, easy to handle plug-in without compromising sound quality or control. The visualized drums in the interface combine auditioning of sounds and drumkit construction. The extensive drag and drop MIDI library (featuring 8000+ MIDI files) enables users to create a great drum track in just a few clicks. For more advanced handling, users can control microphone bleeding and levels between drums using the internal mixer.

Following the success of Toontrack’s EZmix, the new and completely overhauled EZmix 2 continues to build on the same fundamental idea: having pro-designed effect chains for instruments and channels found in every recording session combined in one powerful mixing tool. With the vast collection of ready-made presets, mixing music is not only easy and incredibly fast – you end up with results second to none.

All the previous functionality and content from EZmix is still intact and working in EZmix 2. The major difference however, is that the new and revamped version comes with settings based on high-tech mastering effects, new reverb algorithms, guitar/bass amp and cab simulation, a completely revised interface and a large core content boost. Essentially, EZmix 2 is a mixing engineer, mastering suite and guitar/bass amp all rolled up into one package.
