Tascam is launching two new USB 2.0 audio and MIDI interfaces - the US-200 and the US-600. Designed to be lightweight and portable, they offer 24/96 recording, direct monitoring, XLR inputs with phantom power, and Cubase LE 5 so you can get started right away.
They have also updated the popular DP-02 Portastudio to the new DP-03.
The US-200 offers 2 mic pre's on combo XLR/TRS (1/4") inputs and 4 RCA outs. The US-600 provides 4 XLR/TRS inputs with mic pre-amps and phantom power and the same 4 RCA outs. It also adds a S/PDIF digital I/O allowing Tascam to advertise 6 channel input (but really, you will probably just be using the 4 analog inputs.) Both are attractively priced and include MIDI I/O, making them affordable "all in one" audio interfaces.
The DP-03 is the perfect portable digital recording solution when you don't want to worry about lugging along your laptop, setting it up and then hoping your software doesn't crash! It is an 8-track digital recording that can record to SD using built in mics or external mics. It includes a built in CD burner, a tuner, and a metronome. Most importantly, the DP-03 makes everything accessible through buttons and knobs - no menus to search through and adjusting level is super easy. If a tactile, easy to access recording system is important to you, the DP-03 is the perfect solution.
