Avid news from NAMM - virtual analog synth, Torq 2 and more mBox options

The new M-Audio Venom synthesizer is an emulation of classic analog synthesis that combines the warm sound and character of vintage keyboards with the intuitive control and workflow advantages of modern digital processing to provide cutting-edge sound options to musicians of all skill levels.  It offers extensive sound design capabilities, a full-sized keyboard and ergonomic design, Vyzex Venom software editor, and a built-in USB audio/MIDI interface.  It should be available very soon and we expect to have it up on our website for ordering next week.

M-Audio also updated Torq to Version 2 and it should be available at the beginning of February, although we hope to have it up on the website next week so and you can pre-order Torq 2.0 now.

As expected, Avid is eventually updating their mBox series to include Pro Tools 9 at a higher price than the current versions that ship with Pro Tools 8 LE.  They will also be selling the mBox hardware without Pro Tools, should you want to use Cubase or Sonar instead.  These changes won't be happening until the end of March, so you still can take advantage of the lower price on the bundles with Pro Tools 8 LE, and then buy an upgrade to Pro Tools 9 from LE.
